Daman - An Unexpected Journey

An unexpected journey was lying ahead for me and my better half.....It was a last minute decision to go to Daman....Though we have heard that it was a paradise for liqour lovers but we both thought lets take a blindfolded plunge as we didn't had any other option .Just thought that if our luck is with us ( believe me it was withus , touchwood ) we might get some unexplored places and moments for clicking some amateur photographs and of course going to a less inhabitated town , village or for that matter even a city away from the hustle and bustle of the maddening crowd of big city for a day or two is always a welcome change.

The Nani Daman fort with the statue of St. Jerome.

Was amazed to look at some of the amazing forts though small in stature but big in grandeur. To withstand some of the toughest environmental changes , that too for so many centuries and still continuing to stand unscathed haunts my senses. The only thing which affects it is "WE" who have created it with such dedication and are destroying it with even more dedication. Its high time we do something to make such place of  history as protected site or else we will only be able to see these places of high significance in snaps.

A beautiful view of the Indian Ocean from Nani Daman Fort. It was evening time and the water was very serene , just felt like looking at the birds which were flying around with those tiny boats standing on those still waters as if they are quietly listening to the melodious music of mother nature.

The entrance to the Moti Daman Fort Area. The area has in its vicinity the Bom Jesus Church , The Heritage Light House , The Pargola garden built in the memory of Portuguese soldiers.

The road to go towards the Heritage Light house ( the snap to your right ) is greeted by the huge tree above.

Inside the Moti Daman Fort , we found the Bom Jesus Church. It is really magnificient with some really good work of craftsmanship to be seen of that era.You have to really see it to believe it.

In the area near the Moti Daman fort we also saw the Church of our lady of Remedios.

A very quiet place where we can just go and sit and relax. There is a sense of relaxation and peace once you enter the place.I guess everyone feels the same when they entire the place of god .We just leave all the wordly things aside and find some moments to converse with god.

The Somnath Mahadev Temple

The Somnath Mahadev Temple in the Dabel area is one of the temples you shouldn't miss if you are planning a trip to Daman. The temple has Shivling , a Ganesh Idol , Hanumanji Idol.Check out the ceiling, It is also beautifully done.

We saw some of the best places of worship , forts which could have been in grand form , had a good head , foot massage done at the resort where we stayed. The food was good and after many months had roadside golas.

On the beach we saw some live shell fish ( not sure about their exact names ) but found them very cute and amazing when they crawled out of their shell.
